i have been reading time and time again on this forum that a redline a day is beneficial for these engines (completely foreign to me coming from only piston engines lol)

since i bought the car i have been doing that at least once a day and i havent even had the car a week yet. but my question is, could i notice a difference of carbon removal in just that little bit of time? car is much smoother and starts much easier and seems to be getting better as each day passes. possible or is it in my optimistic head?

It's likely you just being optimistic, though a short term improvement is entirely possible. A hard day at the track or autocross tends to have the same reaction from owners, in that the engine is much smoother on the drive home.

If it was really bad before, then you could be making significant headway. But there is no real way to be sure without borescoping it.

 

More likely that you have cleaned up the plugs than the carbon None the less. .. fouled plugs make this car run like Crap faster than almost anything

I think the scariest thing is not knowing how the early owner(s) took care of the car. Luckily I am only the second owner, and the original owner seems to have taken good care of it. I own an RX-7 SE as well so I knew that the rotary engines need regular high rev runs. I will also back up what RIWWP said about the possibility of there being noticeable short term effects when you do the "redline a day" thing. I'm on my third tank of gas and I went from 14.7 mpg on the first tank to 16.7 mpg on the second, and this one is looking like 18 or so mpg. I believe this is from giving her a bit of stick every once in a while.

 

I redline more often than I probably should..

 

just make sure the engine is hot!
