Prosport gauges install problems

This is a thread to help me figure out some wiring problems as I am too DUMB to figure it out.

My Oil Pressure, Oil and Water Temp sensors were installed as instructed. My concern is the final wiring which is the ground and power/lighting.

1) I wired all the grounds together (Black Wires)
2) I wired the Oranges and Red wires Together (for power and lighting option in red Color)
3) I took all the leads and placed them on a 12 Volt battery to check if they would power on. Sure enough they did without a problem.

As some may know, the wiring harness included in each gauge is not long enough to reach a safe ground on the chassis and same goes for any other wire on the Harness. therefore, additional wire must be spliced or connected to each wire harness to accommodate for the distance where they need to be located.

I used an 18 gauge single wire to run my grounds from the gauges behind the radio and under the steering wheel straight into the grounds from the oil temp sensor and Oil pressure connector. From there I used another single 18 gauge wire to run the rest of the way to the fuse box located on the bottom left corner panel on the driver side by the door. There is a bolt screwed into the frame that I used to place all the grounds. (Water sensor ground was placed on the engine bay)

I repeated these steps for the orange and Red wires except that only 1 single 18 gauge wire was used from the gauges straight to the fuse box. I connected these wires to an out of circuit connector and placed a 15 amp fuse in it and placed it on the Cigarette fuse in the fuse box.

So now I have a common ground and an a common Accessory power for the red and orange wires as recommenced on the instructions. The white wires have not been connected as instructed.

Well.......gauges do NOT power up. What am I doing worng? I made sure that all the splices had proper connections and made sure that my accessory source is properly working since I use it for my lighter and phone charger.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The prosport gauges piggy back to each other so only one power and ground. I'm not sure what you are doing.

Those would be the Premium editions. These are the regular Evo Gauges, they do not have the chain option.

I have had two or three over the years fail and a couple of sending units fail. You get what you pay for, I have just been too lazy to swap out all my gauges for some good quality gauges.

Electrical is usually simple. You need B+ and ground for the circuit to get them to power up

Did you check to make sure you have power at the power side at the fuse box? ( Use a meter) You might also have a bad fuse. If you have power move down the wire and check the voltage closer to the gauges. If you have power all the way to the gauge use a meter check to see if you have continuity on the ground wire to the body.

One thing I would recommend is to make sure that you have a good ground near the sensor for each gauge. Personally I would ground them to the engine instead of to the body. Most strange readings on gauges come from having poor " reference" grounds away from the sensors.

If you are still having issues then try and power them up individually....

Good luck

I have a battery charging at home now so I will first test the wiring with a fully charged battery. if That does not work then ill check with the volt meter and wire then separately to different accessory point.

i solved the issue.

My multi meter was showing almost 27.0 volts coming out of my box so the 20 amp fuse installed was not enough. I added an additional 10 Amp fuse (Which I think its retarded high) but it fixed the connection just fine.

Gauges should only have about a 5 amp fuse. There is no way you should have 27V anything

Adding another 10amp fuse to a circuit wont make it have a higher rating then the original 20A fuse. Basically the 10A will be the rating of the circuit...not 30A. The lowest rated fuse will blow first.
