NJ Premixing in New Jersey

I want to premix with my new Rx8 but here in New Jersey we are not allowed to pump our own gas. Would I just need to hop out and put the oil in and then the attendant fuels up the car? Or is that not allowed? If any owners from NJ premix, I'm just curious on how you go about it.

Yes, that’s how it’s done. Tell the attendant you want to put in some premix first, and THEN he can fill ‘er up. He may not even know what you’re doing, but he’ll go along with it. I suspect all he cares about is that you don’t pump the gas yourself.

That is so weird. I haven't seen a gas station attendant in Texas since around 1975.

You're not allowed? Did somebody start a gas fight and ruin it for everyone?

You can always just pull off into the next parking lot and add exactly how you want it, no?

It's just the (very old and silly) law in some states. It's even practiced in some parts of Canada. Richmond and Coquitlam in BC, for example, don't allow self-service.

I'd imagine you can either pull into an empty parking lot, or just ask the attendant to add it before they add the fuel. I personally always have added the premix before adding fuel, but the order doesn't really matter.

You're making this way too complicated. You don't need an empty parking lot; why make two stops when you can do everything in one?

Adding premix in NJ is done the same way it is everywhere else: you simply add your premix and then fill the tank with gas. The only difference is that the attendant pumps the gas, not you.

Well, I just meant anywhere outside of the gas station.

This is just in case the attendant refuses for whatever reason.
