power steering cable is loose

Hi,

Every day inlose my power steering, How do I fix it? I pop my hood and reach down to the power steering rack , wiggle the connector and presto i have power steering till I turn the car off.

It is not very loose, i cant even budge it or remove it... but somehow attempting to wiggle it, restores power steering.

Does anyone have any ideas??? It has a tight fit... im thinking the connection might have dirt inside it? But it i cant seem to remove it.

Dirty, corroded connection more than likely.

Re route the coolant overflow away from it, disconnect the connectors and clean them up.

It doesn't hurt to clean up the grounds while your there.

Ahhh maybe coolant build up... Had not crossed my mind.

Is there a liquid that will help disolve the buildup? Anything to make it faster and easier. Saturday that is my project.

I had similar issues. I disconnected the connection, took a dry lint free cloth and cleaned the connection with no solvents whatsoever and haven't had an issue since. It seems like the power steering connection is particularly vulnerable to moisture causing mineral deposits and isn't very well weather sealed. I also took some high heat electrical tape and sealed the connection so that fluids IE: coolant, rainwater couldn't get into the connection.

The worst part was driving the car in manual mode, so to speak. Talk about strong arming! Hope you ended up solving this problem as it is a brutal one when it kicks out on the highway at 100 km/h.
