Bought an rx8 with what I thought was just a blowing manifold gasket but it actually turns out to be that a bold has snapped in there so it's not even done up.

The bolt is one of the bottom ones so is there and effective way I can drop the engine far enough down to get a drill and extractor in there without removing the engine?

 

Have a really close look at it and see exactly how much room is there between the snapped bolt and the nearest obstacle in a straight line. You might find there is enough room to use a right-angle drill and jobber length drill bit to get the bolt drilled for the extractor which, itself, will be short enough to use in the same space by turning it with a short adjustable wrench. If you can, indeed, use this method, just be sure to soak the drilled bolt with plenty of a good penetrating oil for at least 30 minutes before you attempt to spin it out. Either one attached should do the job and should be available for rent should you be unable to supply or borrow one.

 

I hadn't thought of a angled drill I can't get the car up in the air now as away for 2 weeks but I will feedback asap
