Old/New Starter part compatability

I bought a junk yard N3R3 starter off a series 2 Rx8. Unfortunately the nut was so corroded and rusty I couldn’t get it off without snapping the solenoid bolt (maybe I could have, but what’s done is done). Anyone know if I can use the solenoid off my old starter on this new starter? I haven’t taken the old starter out yet but it’s off a 2005.

Thanks!

I should work. The only possible issue I can see is whether its capable of carrying the extra current the newer starter will draw.

I got to do the starter exchange today. The solenoid on the old and new starter were identical! No sweat.

Anyone have an idea of what to do with the old starter? It’s missing a solenoid but I know the core is valuable. Not really looking to make $$ but it’d be nice if I could.
