oil ring spring confusion

oil ring spring confusion
I've been installing my rotor parts today and a couple of things are confusing me:
Is it just me or are the two white outer oil ring springs painted on the wrong side here? The rounded side should be pointing down according to the manual, but the paint should be facing up? Is this something Mazda did wrong or Atkins maybe?
Second thing is... I've been watching rebuild videos and they all put the pointed end of the spring into the lock indentation, which makes sense. They are all using older 13b's so i'm also using the official mazda rebuild manual too, which says you should place it next to them (within 15mm):
Which should I follow for this specific issue?

Yes the rounded side should be pointed toward the rotor and installed in the little hole for it. You also be very sure that the Rotation of the rotor pushes toward the round side of the spring. The square edge should fit into the oil seal ring.
If you read it says 0-15 MM's away. So install it 0MM's or directly into the hole.
I am guessing if you installed it 1-15 MM away that is would slide into place the first time you rotate the engine. If you do this I would rotate the engine by hand a few times (in the right driection) just hoping that they fall into place before I actually try to start it.
