Oh boy

Well today I went to the local dealership and took a little test drive in a blue rx8 and wow now I see what you guys are all talking about! It is one sweet ride.

Some things did stick out to me during the drive...the first thing is I always hear how people complain about how the rx8 has 'negative' or hardly any torque but to be honest I didn't notice that, while it may not throw you back in your seat it is still a very fun car to drive.

The second thing is how there actually is quite a lot of space in the car. Now it definitely isn't a big car but there is more space than I thought there'd be.

Overall it was a blast to drive and I just want to go back and take it out again

Now I guess it's time to wait for one to pop up that is the color and options I want!

Just thought I'd share my experience

Thanks

you'd have to post this on hondasRus.com or omgiluvmyporsche.com to get anyone to disagree with you.

If you liked the test drive then chances are you'll love it if you own it.

There's a general rule I follow (something my dad taught me as a kid). If you take care of your <insert inanimate object here> it will take care of you. If you abuse your <insert inanimate object here> it will abuse you.

The 8 requires a bit more TLC then most other cars. So if you do commit, be sure to also commit to the maintenance required to keep her mean and clean.

Will do! I think i have read just about every newbie post and know all the little things to keep an eye on. I think it is a very exciting car and this is from a guy that is around a lot of vw/audi/bmw guys that like to rip on this car....I don't think any of them have taken one for a drive, I don't think they would be say that if they had.

They should, and they won't regret it...

when people refer to the lack of torque they are comparing rev ranges. the renesis doesn't really come out of the hole with much torque, once you hit 4k and above that is where the engine will be happiest.

go drive a v6 isuzu and it will immediately throw you back in your seat when you stomp the pedal below 4k.

The best part is the fact that from about 12mph up you can stay above 4k rpm.

I just bought an 05 with 20k miles on it. Good ones pop up all the time, just jump on it. You already know you wont be disapointed.

I've owned mine over 7 years now and, truth be told, I don't think of it as requiring more care and attention than any properly maintained car. (Emphasis on "properly" if you're a typical **** car nut like me.)

I've been keeping my eye open for a white 07 or 08 with low mileage. That ways there's still some warranty left if anything happens. Hopefully I won't need it though.

I guess I'll ask this here instead of starting a new thread, what do you think the best way to buy one out of state?

I'd fly wherever and drive it back, but I'd like to make sure it's got good compression and all the other stuff that's said to go through before buying. Would it probably be the best idea to have someone from this site go check it out for me and throw them a finders fee?

No need for that, just find a good reputation dealership that wont sell you trash and if they do they'll fix their mistake.

Ok! Thanks. Will keep that in mind while I'm shopping around.
