Bought an rx8 last spring. Drove great all year. I drive it about 2-3 times a week. Came home from work the other day with it, car drove fine on the hr long ride and when i went to start it up next afternoon when i got home from work it wont turn over. Makes a whining sound when attempting to crank it. Checked battery cables and cleaned them up, still nothing. Not sure how it could of been flooded but i did the deflood process from manual to be safe but got same result. Took it a step further and pulled plugs but they were all good. Dont believe it to be the starter, though i suppose its a possibility but im not getting any starter issue that ive encountered before and also it never once gave me an issue starting all the way up to the day it just wouldnt crank over. Immediate fear is compression just from reading the horror stories. Have not had it to the garage from compression test or anything as i figured maybe here was a better place to start. Oil has been changed every 2500 miles and i only run premuim gas. Any advice as to where to begin would be appreciated. I tried searching on forum here but most issues i came across were hot start issues. Thanks in advance.

forgot to add other than an aem intake car is stock. Intake was in when i bought it. Also not throwing any codes or anything.

sounds like flooding to me, but yeah, follow that link. should be all you need! good luck

Does the engine turn over or does the starter just make noise?
