New to 8. Questions I have

I'm pretty new to the rx8, but so far I love it. It's my first rotary. I changed the spark plugs and wires, but it had 4 trailing spark plugs in it. I put the correct ones in. The only issue I seem to be having is that the car 'chokes' out when getting into high RPMs near redline. I thought it may be the plugs and wires, but I'm still having the issue. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

Yes. The coils need to be replaced at least every 30K miles, and tested every 10K miles. Make sure the firing sequence is correct. Clean the MAF with contact cleaner. Reset the NVRAM.

Thanks for the reply! I am getting ready to order coils now. I don't have a cel, but the dsc light is blinking even after resets, but I was guessing it's an entirely different. Issue. I'll get the coils in and clean the sensors as suggested. Thank you again

May also be be a sticking SSV. The sleeves that rotate to allow air in at higher RPM are prone to carbon buildup and sticking and if they are not opening properly can cause the engine to choke at higher RPM.
