Hi I'm new to the rotary world and I'm having a issue With my rx8.

It's 2006 m/t and has about 70,000 miles

The issue is when I'm on first gear or sometimes fully break I will hear this metal clattering sound in the front. Please help it's bugging the heck out of me.

 

Check the Exhaust heat shield under the car, that ratteles alot, I won't advise you to remove it however, just tighten it up somehow.. I used a clothe hanger yes the metal one and the sheild has been secured since then.

Also, once the car is warmed at normal temperature, pop the hood and make a short video of where the noise is comming from, that way an expereinced user will be able to help direct you in the right direction. :-)

 

thnx I'll check that out and I actually found a video of someone else that has the same problem like mine. would it really be the Cat???

 

Sounds a lot like a heat shield rattle to me but I have seen other posts about the same type of rattle and it turned out to be something with the flywheel.

I'm going to take a guess but from the sound and when it's happening could it be the clutch pad springs have gone bad and makeing this sound?

 

Thats the pieces of the broken honeycomb in the cat rattling around. Get the midpipe with cat out and gut it out or buy a new one.

 

So it turns out it was the honeycomb. Thank you for your guys help much appreciated
