New RX8 Owner! Noob Questions Inside

I just bought an '05 RX8, it's my first rotary, and I love it!
I've been scouring the interwebs for appearance stuff, and at first mods, but I found out quickly, there isn't much to do.
The one "mod" that I REALLY want to do, it the Aux mod. I don't want Ipod control, I just want to have a 3.5mm plug for my android.
I have found a couple of places that use the tape/md input on the back of the head unit for a basic setup. I have the tape/md and sat buttons, and I verified that I have the plug in the head unit as well.
I'm wondering what the pin out is for an '05. I have seen it for MX3's, 5's, etc..., but nothing for an RX8.
I know that this topic has been beat like a dead horse, but I have searched and searched, and haven't found anything that is what I am looking for.

Thanks, and this is a great site for info!

I've seen some of those options, but $100+ is a lot of cash just to have an aux hookup. There are some cool ones out there though.
Mine doesn't have a CD/MP3, just a standard CD player. I do have the Sat and Tape/MD buttons, the Bose system, and no satellite radio.
I have seen some DIY setups, but they seem to be for '06+ vehicles, apparently the pinout of the '05 and older is different.

True, after doing some searching, something like that ranges from $60-$100. I may just bite the bullet.

Does anyone know if this one will be compatible with my 8. I have an 04 and unfortunately the software of the radio is 9.51 so most of these i've been looking
at won't work with my car.
It doesn't specify and i don't want to buy the device and it not work.

This is what I got via email

I have not heard about firmware versions.
I think it should work.
If it doesn't, you can return to us for a refund.

Thanks,

Regards,

Well, my "cheap" fix didn't work. I tried the cable that plugs into the back of the radio, no good. When I ordered it, I didn't know what version of software it had. I later found out that it is version 9.73. I haven't seen anything that works with that version, is there anything out there?

I think you need to spend more time in the Audio subforum and SEARCH--it's been discussed since the car hit the pavement. The FAQ has this covered:

https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-int...-first-226065/

I have no idea about why 9.73 wouldn't work. GROMaudio has a module with everything you have asked for--a simple AUX in. And they claim compatibility with your firmware version. They even have a firmware variant that works with the sat module in your particular car.

If you are really out of luck, do the black CD hack and solder a port on the back of the radio yourself. If you have the skills, yes, people have messed with the rear-pinout as well.

I just burn mp3s as data disks(cd) and play music that way.
