Hello everyone,

My name is Nate. As you can guess by my username, my previous rotary was a 1985 GSL-SE. I 13BT swapped the car and owned it for 7 years, before selling it last summer to fund my move. Yesterday, my wife and I picked up our newest rotary ride. Its an 04 RX-8 with a few mods done to it. However, it isnt running quite right so that is what I am going to get sorted out. Figured this would be the place to hunt down the needed info.

Nice. I miss my GSL-SE.

 

So I just ordered new plugs/wires/coils for her. Also trying to hunt down this odd noise in the engine bay...


Any ideas?

 

That is the arm on the SSV actuator making that noise.

This is a 4 port so you won't be able to see it so easily on your 6 port but this what is making that noise. If you put your finger on it while it is idling I bet the sound goes away.

 

Ah I will check that tomorrow. It sounded kind of like an air pulse, so I was concerned I may have an intake vacuum leak.

I am new too, on RX-8 but not on rotaries, this is a nice car, can you tell what is written on the badge of the front right fender ?

 

Looks like she needs a good wash, wash, and polish but nice. That is an authentic Mazdaspeed kit so that is a great start. It may also be an authentic R magic spoiler too.

 

The spoiler appears to be authentic. I wasn't sure on the kit, but was assuming Mazdaspeed or some derivative. How can you tell on the kit?
