New Owner, starting in STX

I've yet to really get into any kind of forum community so far but I've been lurking here for long enough now and recently picked up an 8 of my own so I might as well start participating.

I acquired my 8 from a club member here, fourwhls. He's dialed it in spot on for SCCA STX autocross. I'm coming from running a Miata in STR, albeit one a little less dialed in, so it's not unfamiliar territory. I'm an engineering student at Clemson University with Formula SAE experience but I won't pretend that that makes me special.

So far my plans for the car are fairly open though it will eventually head to the track. I only recently started driving the car so everything's very new to me.

While I get acquainted, I figure setting up a Solostorm software package (suggested by fourwhls) and getting baseline numbers for the car before trying to fiddle about is a good way to go.

am just starting to do some research.

The trailer pictured is my uncle's but we have the same trailer except mine has a ~400lb box on the front. The trailer is 2000lb, add the weight of an RX8 and... well it'll be close. I tow with a diesel Ford Excursion and a weight distributing hitch so it doesnt really feel like theres a trailer back there for me.
