Question Rx8 professionaly practical?

Hey guys. So I am really looking into buying a rx8. I want to put a lip on it, get some rims and tires. Borla catback, cat delete, aem intake, a pearl dip from dyc and bhr ignition.

This is litterally my dream car and I finally have the money to buy it but I need some advice. I want to know everyone's opinion on if this is a professionaly practical vehicle. I am a real estate agent, and I want to know if you guys would love of your re agent pulled up in that or would you hate it and see it childish and unprofessional?

I am torn and I have gotten a variety of input. If there is already a thread on this topic I apologize because I really did look hard and have yet to find one

Any input is positive input at this point, thanks guys.

Rx8 professionaly practical?

I recommend reading the new and potential owners sticky thread, located at the top of the new members forum. It'll give you a better understanding of the car and the potential for those mods you're looking at.

But as long as you keep the car free of childish noise makers (intakes and exhausts) and keep it clean and looking stock, it's not too childish. Body kits, flashy "rims" and large wings will definitely degrade the appearance.

Welcome to the club.

By all means get yourself your dream car, but as a second car. Successful professional real estate agents in my neck of the woods use 3 row SUVs.

It don't think it's the best car for buzzing between properties. You CAN do it obviously, but IMO it's better as a weekend car. Depends a lot on what kind of area you work in. If you're going to be sitting in traffic and looking for parking spots, get something more civilian for work. If most of your driving is open roads, dude, have a blast!

Also, you want one in the best health you can find. If you decide that this is your only vehicle, you don't want to be left stranded due to previous owners mistakes.

This is not a great for for a real estate agent driving clients around. Get a good cheap sedan for that, and save money for a second car. The 8 is great for that.

It's fairly practical..

If your 8 is bone stock -- It can pass as a sedan/and would look pretty professional.
Each thing you add will make it look less, and less professional.

I don't think your idea of professional matches the rest of the world.

If at times your buyer's will be riding with you to view a home. Then that's obvious no way pratical, Mazda built the car to be there top shelf sport car. If your looking for status symbol, (professional) Rx8 is not it. Rx 8 is a toy, romping stomping high revving, darting diving jerking snatching g force machine. It doesn't care if your comfy it is built to man handle the road. Just my opinion. To each his own.

As long as it's resonated, they aren't loud at all.

I daily drive mine and have taken my coworkers in it at a "professional" company here and there. Everyone has thought it was cool, especially the suicide doors. I would recommend not yielding to the naysayers - but you have the added factor of a customer sale possibly hinging on their opinion of you where I don't have such a thing; coworkers being different from customers.

It really depends on if you will be giving your customers rides. Fat people will have trouble fitting so that's a very realistic consideration to take (no offense to them).

If you don't plan on chauffeuring customers, and just "showing up" with it, then I would say definitely go for the 8 as long as it's clean (no stance, no super crazy rims and no loud exhaust). I personally don't have a negative opinion on rice (to each his own) but you don't want it to have it negatively impact your sale.

Life is too short to drive boring cars.

If my real estate agent pulls up in a plastidipped RX-8 then he/she would not be my real estate agent.

Yeah sorry, I would say 4 door sedan of any type is what would be considered practical and professional. Anything from Nissan Maxima to a top of the line BMW/Mercedes even.

If my real estate agent showed up in an RX-8 as you describe it, my confidence in them looking out for my best interests would be seriously shaken.

I'm not saying don't get the 8, just don't meet your clients in it! Or any sports car for that matter!

Even if my real estate agent pulled up in a Plasti-Dipped Rolls Royce, then he/she would still not be my real estate agent. In addition, I would probably call the police.

To quote 9k, Plasti Dip is a scourge.

IMO plastidip is a sign of failure and laziness. Not something you want to project as a real estate agent.

But aside from that, the Rx-8 is just not a good platform for a work vehicle. My real estate agent drives a Volvo SUV and it was nice since she was able to drive us around the neighborhood to different houses when we were looking. It's all about first impressions and for me her appearance and vehicle of choice told me that she was both serious and successful at her job. And she was, I have used her a couple of times now and I have referred to at least a dozen people.

If you want to own an Rx8, you shouldn't be worried about what other people think.

The two aren't exclusive. The issue is that OP hasn't really considered the practicality of the vehicle with respect to his job. A RX-8 just isn't a good vehicle to ferry clients around in. I can imagine a married couple being driven around in the car with one spouse in the back barely able to see out the tiny rear windows. It's just a bad idea. A mid-size sedan or SUV, on the other hand, would be ideal.

Also, real estate is significantly biased towards image. OP might think the '8 is the greatest car ever and we'd probably not argue with him too much. But the average customer isn't going to agree. The '8 doesn't send the same message to us enthusiasts that it does to the rest of the world. Again, something in low-end luxury would be much better.

My hunch is that OP is trying to justify his purchase of an '8 by using it for work. Either he wants to add it to work expenses (for tax purposes) or he's trying to justify trading in his current car to get an '8 instead of something better suited to his work.

A lowered, kitted, and dipped RX-8 speaks volumes to potential clients... just nothing positive!

The 8 in the 04- 06 year model can be had for very cheap. So get you a good 04 Rx8 for play that you can fix up for your non daily driving then you can find you a nice comfy 4 door something to work out of. Just my opinion, to each his own.

Probably not

Not very practical for a real estate agent!

How will yot fit your signs in the boot?

But yet again an rx8 is my dream car and I will get one regardless of practacality

If I was in your position I probably would though! Cant wait to get mine.

Don't forget the massive Boeing 487 spoiler, some rice skirts, and some rubber band tires on 20" chrome rims :D.

Jk. Rx 8s are semi practical. Bad mpg. Everything else good considering it's a sports car. Can be a nightmare with a bad engine. If you don't rice out the car, most people will like it.

22" spinners will help with the up-sell

not sure too many people will admit to "liking" real estate agents

Our agent drove us around in a new Ford Escape awd w a leather interior and a company sticker. A practical, comfortable choice. When I asked, our agent said she does 3 year leases on the escapes and writes off the entire (low) monthly payment as a business expense. To echo some other posters, I'd make the 8 a fun car and put the work miles on something else.
