New member some what of a new owner.
Hello all. I bought a 06 rx8 6speed mt back in February. I have done plugs, coils, oil lines, oil change. I am going to do a s2 trans swap in a year or 2. I am not sure if I want to do a rew swap in a few years ( yes I know 15k +) or rec cnc ported reni. As for my next mod I am going to get new tires and I am thinking about getting rims. That brings me to my question. The drag Dr 38 rims 17"x8" anyone know if I would have fitment issues over the front brake? I looked at the rpf1 rims I would love to have a set of them but $ is short for my car fund till I start getting overtime at work in the fall.
Also if anyone has experience with the rec cnc ported reni please let me know what you think.

17" will be fine. They are the smallest you can go.

Thanks I am still trigger shy on getting them. I want to increase the rubber between the potholes and my rim but I do like the stock rims. I have dreamt of having a rotory from the first time I got to hear one that had a bridge port. My wife finally gave me the go ahead this past winter. I want it to last till I can't physically get in and out of it anymore. I still have to do trans and diff oil change, bushings, pillow *****, front and rear shocks (going to try to get the ok for olliins coil overs) . I have 1 bent rim its not but .5mm out but that bugs the $#**+ out of me.

Some experienced members will tell you that a Bridgeport in an RX-8 is worthless.

Welcome,
I would try the wheel before you buy, some 17s fit, some do not.
Regarding swaps, ride in, or drive a car with a good built engine. You may be amazed. Problem with the rotary is that it can be really really down on power and still start and drive fine. A new engine can fell like 100 HP. I was tracking mine with only one face passing a compression test and 2 at 55 psi. Car ran fine.
For new owner stuff, check out he congrats thread in my sig.

Here is the quote 200 mentioned:
"Bridgeporting a Renesis is the same as taking a $6000 cash loan, digging a hole in the ground, putting the cash in the hole, pouring gasoline over the cash, and lighting it on fire. - -TeamRX8"
As for your bent wheel, there should be shops that can bend it back to shape. Had a bent wheel on my old Accord Coupe and a shop repaired it for under CAN$200.

Thanks guys. I don't plan on a bridge the sound maybe great but like you said its just burning $. When I was asking Adam at rec about cnc porting I was looking at the exhaust port. Intake side ill just get a street port done.
I am going to see if the shop will get the rims in stock for a test fit. Fixing the bent rim I will not ever trust it. I work with aluminium alloys.
