New Member and Owner to an 8
If it's ruined, it's not because it sat. Sitting with gasoline in the chamber is fine. Sitting with water in the chamber is worse, but from what you're describing that's not your case... right? right?
While you were trying to deflood it, did the behavior change at all? Did it try to fire?
You might try entirely new plugs, depending on the condition of the ones in there now. By the way, can you take a picture of them? Can learn a lot from what's on the plug.
You said you were going to check for spark... did you?

The case is that the dude changed his story. Anyways, one that actually made sense is he started it, didn't let it warm up, shut it off and tried starting it and flooded it. Then let it sit for 2-3 weeks. When deflooding it, it didn't change in behavior and did not fire. I did buy brand new plugs, wires and coils, changed oil and filter all at the same time. Plugs still look brand new from box. And I did not try testing for spark yet. Tried pop starting it at 20 mph in 2nd and it didn't want to start. Maybe it's had a bad motor and was lied to about him flooding it. The changing of stories is what gave it away really.
I'd go get a compression test because that would tell all but have no time do that. I don't wanna wait till I do because I know I won't have time and I don't want this car sitting any longer. This thing all together has sat for 4-5 months not running. What do you guys think I should do without getting a compression test done? Should I tear into the motor or try some more stuff? This battery is trashed, it's only 2 years old but it's junk. Every time I'd try to start it since I got it it would be dead and had to hook jumper cables up to it. And it doesn't have CEL because I've had battery unhooked.
Reading up on this site, Compression testing, and knowing your current codes on the OBDII are your three key steps.
Most Mazda dealers are open late or on Saturday so you can schedule a compression test in advance. I've also been able to come right in to have it done in Cincinnati.
