Mazda CX-4 here we come! Koeru
Well it looks like the CX-4 is a happening thing, according to these spy pics of a almost production ready unit inside and out.
Appears directly off the CX-5 platform.
Don't know about this, Mazda are doing a Nissan and going SUV CX- everything.

what's the point?
so wait
now we're going to have CX-3, CX-4, CX-5, and CX-9?
that's a whole lot of cross overs

lol....??, I hate them, as we know if your are a "normal" car owner or a Miata, even RX-8 one, these things are just swamping us on the road, cant see over or around them, I treat them like TRUCKS, I hate all trucks/semi's, there should be separate roads for them !
I am becoming a Scrooge on the road and get past them at almost any cost so I can see past them...they hog the fast lanes, bloody big glorified Pick-ups (utes) with one driver.!!
The only consolation as a Mazda man is Mazda do them better than most and have 'some' driving 'enjoyment' in their DNA.
Merry Xmas morning here now (humbug) something else I dislike!...the commercialized BS.

I wish they would focus on a Mazda Speed 3 or something, or put more than 50 engineers on the rotary project. How many SUVs are needed, and how many different variations are needed?

I agree 100%. Another SUV is just unnecessary at this point. Their current lineup is good the way it is outside of getting a rotary car back in it. It's time they start focusing more on MazdaSpeed variants and higher performance.

I am hoping for another Mazdaspeed 3 GT (awd this time). But don't fault Mazda. Buyer research shows (at least in the US) that folks love anything SUV. That is what is selling again now that gas prices (at least in the US) have come down. The experts say it is a US lifestyle thing, that we want to carry more folks and more of our stuff around with us.
I am for more sports cars and yes less trucks to see around or have to pass.

The new CX-5 is great, so far we are really happy with it. The CX-3 would be a fun daily, but the engine is anemic, it needs the 2.5L. I don't see the point of a CX-4. The CX-9 makes sense if you need more room.

Yeah and I can hardly tell the difference between a BMW X3 and an X5 at first glance. Same for the Audis, I have to focus to tell the difference between the A4, A6, and A8 unless they are sitting still.

I like the looks of the CX-5 but it is an SUV after all so I can't really get excited about any SUV or CUV. I have seen a few with suspension mods and wheels that look pretty clean though. But my woman is all about that stock life so there will never be any mods on it.

Haha oh ok. Well no point doing suspension mods on it anyway. That kind of defeats the purpose of it. But there are SUVs that you can get excited about. The Porsche Macan for example

The CX-5 handles pretty well, some suspension mods would be fun. My boss has a Macan Turbo and a Cayanne S (daughters cars), the Macan is fun but not worth the price of admission IMO. The Cayanne is meh, his daily is a Acura MDX SH-AWD and it is actually way more fun to drive than the Cayanne that cost twice as much.

I see the point to it:
CX-3 sporty-looking small suv - too small to some
CX-4 sporty-looking mid suv - a bigger CX-3 for those that find the CX-3 too small and the CX-5 too boxy
CX-5 boxy looking, closer to RAV4/CR-V in size/shape/interior space
CX-9 luxo-mid-large suv for 7 passengers
Also, MNAO's new boss said he wants to reach over 50% volume sales in crossovers to rely less on Mazda3 and 6 sales. The crossovers earn better margins than the cars...
