WI New member with a new car.

Hi, my name is coty and I just purchased a 2004 rx8 with a 6speed. I bought the car with a blown engine for a good price. I am a racer trying to expand my driving skills and experience. I have been autocross racing for around 4 years now and for this year I am looking to get on bigger tracks as well. In the past I have only owned fords I have a daily driver escort zx2 and I have owned 4 past mustang gts. I have raced most of them and done well especially with the escort. But I wanted a drivers car that was competitive at the national level. So that is how I decided on the rx8. I have been into cars since I was 16 and am mechanically inclined I have done all my own work since the beginnning. Currently I am a mechanical engineering student and I work on and build engines for can am atv's as a job. Right now I have the engine pulled out of the car and stripped down. I was going to take it to someone and have it rebuilt but I am located in central wisconsin and cannot seem to find anyone close that is capable of rebuilding it. So I am about to take the block apart maybe today or tomorrow. Any info on where to find parts for the best prices or a good service manual would be greatly appreciated. I have been searching the forums but have not found the information I am looking for yet all the manuals I have found don't show disassembly of rotors and housings and the specifications of clearances of everything. I feel I have the skill and with the shop I work at I have all the tools to rebuild the engine after I get a couple specialty tools. I just need a good source for parts and all the specifications to check to make sure my parts are acceptable. Any help would be greatly appreciated and if there is anyone else in the area that is knowledgeable that would be good to know as well.

Thanks

Banzai Racing is in Indiana, maybe someone else from the area knows a place closer to you?

He's looking for a rebuilder.

I found a local guy with a low mileage used engine now and installed it, so far it is working great.

Hello Coty and welcome to the forum! Congrats on your RX8, I'm sure you gonna love it. Please, share some pics of how your car currently looks and also share your ideas and thoughts of what you might want to do with it.

I am located in central wisconsin in the stevens point area. As far as what I want to do with the car, I will be setting it up to race cs class in autocross as well as being my summer fun daily driver. It will get koni shocks, 17x8 wheels with either potenza re-71r or bfg rival s tires, hawk hp plus pads, and a progress tech front bar along with a proper suspension alignment. I would like to do other track events as well besides autocross but am mainly looking to be competitive in autocross this year.
