Hey everyone, my name's Aud and around a year ago, I bought myself a beautiful two-tone '04 RX8 I had my eye on for a few months! I had researched plenty on these forums, and got a gist of what I would need to do to maintain my 8 and keep it healthy. The car was doing just fine, topped off with oil, replaced regularly, cleaned, only 92+ octane, spark plugs, coils, and wires all replaced, fluids replaced, new OEM thermostat, regular redlining without holding it up there, everything my local rotary nut recommended me to do. Even some premixing.

But little did I know, the engine had suffered a minor amount of damage due to the old thermostat failing when the car wasn't in my care. I didn't notice any signs of damage in driving or inspection, nor did the compression results come back showing anything. Too soon after the failure, perhaps? I don't know.
Regardless, I went ahead and took it to Mazda, and they did a compression test. I was running on one rotor. Ouch.

So, I decided that I wasn't going to give up on her. Much to my wallet's distaste, I found a local rotary specialist in New Jersey, and I took my car there. It's been a month or so, and I'm currently waiting to get my RX8 back from her heart transplant. I look forward to being more active on here as I work through getting my 8 in better condition than it's ever been! There's a LOT of work to be done on her, and I gotta start somewhere.
