Okay guys.

Before anyone jumps on me, I have been reading a lot. Especially about the hot start issues that could have something to deal with compression issues.

I'm new to the rotary scene, but am absolutely more than willing to be educated.

Here's my issue.

I have a problem starting after it's been running for a while. I know, I know. Compression is going to come up. I have an 05. I've made notes on hitting the 6-9k rpms a day. It doesn't suddenly bog down and die when I'm sitting. I have no issues with power or taking off (little ****** scoots). I didn't just get this car for the looks, I genuinely want to learn about the engines, and have been looking in to going to school on them.

Now, my first step is replacing the common suggestions. The battery, spark plugs, spark plug wires, and the coil pack. It does have issues with starting after its been running, but will start right back up once I've left it sitting for about 20-35 minutes. (I do let it sit longer, just to be safe.) I want to breathe as much life as I can back in to this beauty.

I am a female, but I do have an avid love for cars and engines alike.

Any and all advice, recommendations, and Dos and don'ts are more than welcome here. I want to know everything there is to know!

First: Welcome!
Second: Read the new owners thread about 12 times then read it again. no really read this!
Third: Hot start issues are 99.9% compression related and I strongly suggest getting a rotary specific compression check done before throwing more money at the car.
Fourth: If the comp numbers come back decent, try the upgraded starter.

What he said. It is great bedtime reading and I often use the new owners' thread to read to the kids.

This. Get the compression tested just as a baseline diagnostic. You'll know where the life of the engine stands and a general approximation of how much time before it dies. And it will die.
