Unhappy My 2006 is shuddering and draggy feeling

Hi,

For the past week my (auto trans)2006 RX8 will shudder as I press the gas and be very draggy feeling. I got gas at a cheap gas station (high octane but just giving all info) the night before. I don't know if it's the gas line or what. I don't know why I think that but it occurred to me because I smelled gas the other day as I was pulling out of my carport and hadn't ever smelled it before outside of the gas station.

It will do that shuddery, draggy thing - as in I press the gas and it doesn't really act responsively - but then it will just as abruptly start driving like its beloved little self.

Then when I decelerate, here we go again. It's like it loves to go super speedy, but I've had the draggy-ness in very low gears on city streets and on the freeway going 55-60.

Does anybody have any idea what's going on? I have an appt with my mechanic on Thursday to replace that bottom cover in front that got messed up by a couple of high curbs. I'd like to have an idea or two to give him since I know that he's good, but rotaries aren't his first love by far.

I just got this last November and I LOVE HER! I'm hoping that it isn't something that's going to send me to the poorhouse. Help!

++ on good gas and fuel treatment...

Also, could just be time for coils and plugs that gas smell could be from tail pipe.

Or, check for a fuel leak. You are at an age where little thing can go wrong. I recommend checking out the $10 thread in my signature for stuff to look at.

Welcome.

I am wondering if it's possible that my BRAKES are applying themselves??? I know it sounds crazy but that's how it feels. It's going along fine and then it slows down and shudders and shakes like the brakes are on.

I ran the tank down and put in good gas... didn't make a difference.

It's intermittent (all the more maddening). I'm zipping along just great and suddenly it's like it's braking on its own! Is this even possible?

seized calipers, rear wheel bearings going bad? have your rear bearings, and brake components checked

Sounds like fuel pump, bad cat converter, or faulty ignition.

Doubt it's the gas as you would have noticed it right after you gassed up not a day later.
