Last week I noticed that that 8 that I bought has 3 metal straps that are damaged. I removed two of them and hammered them straight for now. There is a third one near the engine. If I try to remove this, will anything fall down or is the bar safe to remove. In this picture it is the red box.



I have a very slight misaligned steering wheel, and was wondering if this might be the culprit. The wheel is slightly tilted to the left and the bend on that bar is on the driver's side too.

you know how I know that you've never done any exhaust work on your 8?

first if you havent read the new owners thread about 12 times no really read this!

second that brace is safe to remove as you can see via RB header install instructions

third, those brace bars have nothing to do with your steering wheel, you need an alignment

You know that haven't worked on the exhaust system because I just got the car? Is there something that you can see is wrong or needs attention? I had a vibration and I thought the heat shields needed to be clamped but I think it was the rear most bar flapping around. It has stopped since.

Yes, it's safe to remove them.

No, it's not safe to remove the big one up front and drive.

No, this probably isn't likely the cause of your steering issue.

Your steering issue is a bad alignment. If all three crossmembers are mangled, then odds are a tie rod or control arm or three are also bent.

The tie rods look fine, there is an extra smaller rod on the driver side, that's about all I noticed. Guess it just needs an alignment.

I just tried to remove that big cross member and it is stuck in there real good. What are the torque specs for those bolts?

The position of the hoses on the cold air intake don't have a specific order right since that tube is all the same more or less? The hose with the red tape on it needs to be replaced. The diagrams I have seen and the instructions show the hoses slightly differently. I am trying to figure out which one that hose is to order.

Forgot to add that my car is a 2007 GT

The location of those three hoses is unimportant so long as they are all connected.
