Might be a RX8 owner soon...

Hey guys, so I currently have a Cobalt SS/SC and its been nothing but great to me for the past year, but recently I put it up for sale and someone offered a trade. He has a 2005 Mazda RX8 with 95k with a 7k old engine that was replaced by the Mazda dealership. My car has a bit over 117k so it's fair as far as year and mileage go. So all I want to ask is how hard is it for me to do my own work on an RX8? I do all of my own work, from oil changes to turbocharging haha. Oh and I've heard a lot about not turning it off right after a drive, I've read that many people rev the engine before turning it off, why do they do this? Does it have something to do with the carbon deposits?

Thanks haha, I went through the whole thing pretty much during my breaks between classes, lots of information. So it's probably a good thing that it has had the engine replaced already? Oh and is the new engine warrantied? I read about the 8 year 100,000 miles warranty, which won't apply to this car anymore anyway, but since the engine itself is new is it covered?

You would still fall under the 8yr/100k mi warranty (if you have any time left, being an 05...). Find out the date the car was ORIGINALLY sold and add 8 years to that.
