Mazdaedit public tunes?

I’m considering getting mazdaedit for my 05 (JM1FE if that matters?).

I looked around a bit on the tuning forms and tried the search bar (which was not very helpful...), and couldn’t find anything specifically about that.

I’m trying to see some base tunes/pre made tunes by other users so I can look at how they’re done and whatnot. I plan on learning myself ofc, but in the meantime play around with some that are already made where I won’t detonate my engine...

If anyone can link a thread that I glossed over or has some input it would be greatly appreciated thanks!

You don't really just get a base tune that will do anything power wise. Basically when you get mazdaedit you would change around some basic stuff like making the fans turn on at lower temperatures. If you have the LS coil kit you could change your coil dwell to match the LS coils. Many people increase how much oil the OMP injects at higher rpm. You can delete engine codes and what not as well. Raise idles.

But there is a lot to learn before actually do anything performance wise. The stock rx8 map is fine, but mazda did tune the timing map down from the factory to prevent idiots who put regular gas in the tank from blowing their engine during high load high rpm. The best place I found to learn was from Kane's old thread+vids. Someone recently uploaded his old video recordings where he went over tuning in general and then how to specifically tune the rx8's ecu. The last post by me has my basic notes I took on how Kane went about tuning, but take the time to watch through the vids for a better understanding.

Awesome thanks so much for all the info! I know Mazda did what they could to squeeze the last drop of power out of these engines while complying with the EPA, while keeping them reliable... I’ll definitely do some research before I get going with any serious tune then.

Hi MincVinyl, are you confident the OMP is actually capable of flowing more oil than whatever the highest flow is with factory settings? I'm just curious, because I vaguely recall someone stating you couldn't really increase the flow at high rpm, although I'm hoping I'm recalling that wrong.

I didn't go over the max value on the stock map, but mainly increased some of the higher rpm areas. I think I remember seeing someone talk about it in a video, not sure if it was one of Kane's vids. There are a few people who bump everything up across the board from what I saw when I looked into it.

Example: here's my stock(top) vs my current map(bottom) not sure why the screenshot came out looking terrible.

There’s an odd dip in the OMP MAP at 5500/94% . Not sure why? I bumped it up 1 value from the 5000/94. Increased mine 8% with some tweaks, mostly not exceeding 60.

I have a very agreesive OMP table set up. I believe that the low load/RPM oiling was too low.
I run a SOHN and catless anyway, so other than plug fouling, there might not be any harm.
