Hello! I've been lurking here for some time and finally decided to register and get serious!

I live in the Chicago area and drive a Toyota FJ Cruiser, which I picked because I am in a wheelchair, hate minivans, and need the freedom to drive by myself. The FJ's rear door allows me to easily take my chair apart and put it in the back seat.

I was initially drawn to the RX-8 because of the same rear door setup as the FJ, but in my research have become fascinated by the car in general. When I became paralyzed, I never seriously thought that I'd be able to drive a car of this sort, but the rear door makeup would allow me the ability to freely use the car without assistance.

I'm in the market for a RX-8 at some point this year - probably '09-'11 given the engine improvements. I look forward to getting to know you all. As some of you may know, FJ Cruisers have a similar cult following that I've enjoyed becoming a part of.

Welcome and glad that you decided to come out of lurker status and register. Lots of great info, help and people here.
