WV Loud

I knew my 8 was loud when I test drove it but it was snowy and bad and the previous owner said it had an aftermarket exhaust. Today was the first day I could crawl under it. It has NO MUFFLER and is deafening inside. Going to have to get that solved.

No muffler. Cat is there. Pipe comes from cat back and then a Y straight out the back.

Might be a stupid question but are muffler tips that are welded on an option to quiet it near legal limits without replacing system?

I ride a motorcycle so I get loud, but this is so loud that it hurts my ears when I push it to redline and is incredibly loud droning at highway speeds.

One of my favourite lines from the the newbie threads, is the description of an uncorked rotary, someone likened it to attacking a tin shed with a chainsaw.... from the inside!! I'll credit RIWWP with that gem!!!

People that want to go with straight pipes really don't understand how loud it actually is. They think it's exageration. It isn't.

If they haven't done it they need to ride in mine before they go jerking the muffler off. It is the loudest car I have ever ridden in.

Oh it's loud, and without the cat it would be deafening. We had a new local guy go on a cruise with us with straight pipes from the header back (on a 4 port auto I might add). After an hour of cruising with him wailing on it trying to keep up with us thru the twisties, we asked him to separate from us because it was just unbearable and the attention was a no go.

And you know it is loud when a group of loud RX-8's, all with various exhaust setups ask you to leave because you are too loud an attracting attention, .

And think of the neighbors who aren't even into cars.

Anyone with an excessively loud exhaust - let me know what town you live in and what color your 8 is, and I'll be happy to drop a note to the local police to let them know to keep an eye (and an ear) out.

I don't know, I took my muffler off and I don't think it's too loud. Ive heard louder. I actually love it. Maybe it depends on the size of a pump that you put in there. I don't know. Maybe in quieter places it might be considered loud. But for brooklyn it's not loud. But then again, to each his own. Depends on a person

There was no talking to anyone in the car with that system on it at all. I live with WV and we have very few regulations when it comes to noise but it was crazy loud.
