Heres that pic. The 4 wires that are held together by that that metal crimp or whatever is called goes to the yellow/re wire on the harness connector. Blue and yellow to blue and yellow. Pink to pink and purple to purple on the connector, but what about that loner wire with the pink and purple, what’s that for?

That looks like just shielding, it's twisted and bare, it wouldn't be any sort of signal wire. It might connect to ground at some point.
I would wrap it up so it doesn't touch anything, connect the rest of the wires to the sensor plug and give that a go.

Not super sure what that other piece of crimped bare wires is about. Potentially that connects to the wire you're asking about, but I have to confess I've never looked inside the wiring harness quite like this, so could be wrong.

The bare wire is the shield. I believe it is grounded at the ECU end. So that end is just terminated.

the other wire with the crimp is Mazdas way to pair together the grounds. Just cover it up and use the single wite for the plug.

i still think you should try and find a good used engine harness....

I think you’re right, I’m gonna see if you’re can find me that whole snake of wires that goes to the cars computer and get it over with. Thank all you guys so much. This issue has been a pain in the butt. It all started bcs the car was started emitting very strong fumes so I took it to autozone and they plugged the obd2 and they gave me the that P0172 code which is Bank 1 system too rich for a predetermined period of time. It said to replace oxygen sensor/wiring harness connector. So the connector was bad and that’s when I cut it. Anywho, I’ll let ya guys know what I decide to do for future reference for other members. Gonna try and crimp it to the o2 sensor first with all the colors matching, and if it fails I’m jus gonna get the whole wiring harness from the dealership or somewhere. Let ya guys know what happens. Thanx again to everybody

One last question guys... on the actual 02 sensor... there’s a blue wire, a white wire and two black wires. Do both black wires do the same thing or one does one thing and the other one does another???

Dude, stop creating new threads over and over for the same problem.
Just keep replying to the original thread.

Just wire it up and run it. You can't make it any worse
