Late Hot Start
Hey! I have a completely stock manual 4 port 04' RX8, and my hot start is a bit late, the cold start takes ages too! the car takes about 8 seconds from 0-100. I got down a pair of revision C coils, will that be enough or should i check for anything else? I'm certain the compression is fine though.

1. So you are saying you have the JDM 5 speed manual? That's the only 4 port manual they made.
2. What speed is your starter cranking at?
3. You got a pair of ignition coils? There are 4 on the car so you only replaced 2? When did you last replace spark plugs and spark plug wires?
4. How do you know the compression is fine? There is no "pretty sure" you need to test it with a rotary compression tester.
5. Do you have any engine codes you can share?

im not sure but it takes about 2 - 3 seconds hot.
i bought 4 revision c coils brand new sorry. my bad.
im waiting down on some spark plugs as well they havent been delivered yet due to the prevailing situation
unfortunately i live in Sri Lanka and we do not have any proper Rotary engine specialist and no proper tools for a compression test. however i know that im not gonna lose compression anytime soon thats for sure.
i cant remember the exact engine codes. i have a Cylinder 1 misfire and a code due to the missing Catalytic converter. i decatted it as the previous owner maintained it like ****.

Removing the cat is always a good idea so long as it's legal to do where you live. Luckily for me, it's completely legal here. If you are replacing your spark plugs, you should also replace the spark plug wires. That alone may solve your misfire. The fact that it starts hot means likely compression isnt an issue so long as it does it every time. If you ever start having hot start issues you will need a compression test done. Possible to do with a regular tester but extremely hard to get an accurate number.
