I saw an rx8 type s for 10k grand.

Hi im new and been looking for my ever first car. I haven't driven a manual car before and been thinking if it's a good thing that I will buy the rx8? is it worth it? What should I do first when I bought it? What mods should I do in the first place? I'm sorry im not really good at cars thats why I asked here. And I've been researching that rx8 isn't a good car thats why I came here to ask this. Thankyou guys

Welcome. You have a lot of reading to do on those questions. The RX-8 is a great car, but its one that requires proper maintenance to ensure longevity. It requires an owner that knows how to work on cars or have the willingness to educate themselves and learn how to. Mods can come after the car is up and running properly and the maintenance is up to date. These really are fun cars, but not great first cars for the uneducated if it's a primary driver.

The RX-8 is a fantastic car... if you are good at maintaining it properly. Highly suggest reading the new owners sticky before buying. You have a lot of research to do before buying. Also, $10k for an RX8 is a lot unless it’s the R3.

This is true. You also need to watch out a lot of people love dumping there rx8's on others when an engine that is about to blow or has low compression. It's recommended by like everyone on this form to get a compression test done before buying especially if your paying 10K but it better have around 30k miles for that price. Also make sure it has no hot start problems, that is a sign to low compression you should be able to turn the car off after driving it around town and it start right back up if it takes longer the 5 sec then move on it's got low compression the longer it takes to start hot the lower the compression. But longer start ups can also be caused by weak or bad spark so ask when the coil packs and spark plugs were replaced but this should also lead to longer cold start ups so you i would compare the cold and hot startups to see how similar they just count how long it takes cold and how long it takes hot if they are really close then it's probably got good ish compression. Also for mods the only one i could really recommended is for engine life is the sohn adapter they sell some kits on ebay with the pump and a tank for the oil under the hood. Rx8's are like 2 strokes and inject oil into the combustion chamber stock they inject dirty motor oil which also leads to carbon build up so that kit stops that and injects clean 2 stroke oil from under the hood from the tank they sell in the kit.

It is a lot. For me to even consider an S1 for that it would have to completely immaculate with under 5k miles and near perfect compression. Even then I'd probably be stuck at $9k haha.
