Hi all,

I am from Germany and have been driving my 03 S1 since March 2012 all year round. I was able to get my hands on a R3 steering wheel from the U.K. recently and want to put it into my S1 now.

I‘ve got the clockspring as well as the switch body of the same R3. I know how to put everything in, since I have got a German version of the workshop manual. I also am aware, that there is only one airbag connector on the gas generator and the clockspring of the R3.

Now the problem is, that it shows an airbag error, everytime I start it after the conversion. The airbag light flashes one time, then nine times.

The seller said, that it should be plug and play, if I put the wheel with the clockspring and switch body (which I did and it wasn‘t).

Has someone already done this conversion, encountered this error and found a solution for it?
