How many posts do I need?

I feel like I have made well over 20 posts, I still can’t create my own post in the for sale or WTB thread. I can respond just can’t post

thanks,
clinton

I don't know your post history, but icymi, lounge posts don't count.

ok so if I post in here they count? I don’t understand why this has to be so difficult. I’m looking at these forums the same why I do the Rx7 forms, a place for resource, help and knowledge. I have to have (x) amount of posts in a particular area before I’m allowed to ask someone if they have a part available to buy.

thank you for the Quick response I appreciate the help.

Read your post count now, it'll answer your question.

Asking someone anything is possible, Creating threads outside of the new member area is restricted until you reach the requirements for those restrictions to be lifted. 10 contributing posts, 30 days.

These restrictions are in place for a reason and do help reduce spam/junk buildup.

Restricted forum access is normal. We have this on rx7club.com as well. We have been tweaking the requirements for forum access and private messaging and I think right now we are doing great. As Williard stated above, this helps to reduce spam buildup and promotes searching. I recently banned several spam members, as things tend to get crazy sometimes. When your on the mod or admin team, you look at things differently and you then understand why certain restrictions are in place.

it’s probably one of the most posted questions in this particular forum area. So learning how to search properly before being let loose from here into the general population would help avoid receiving snarky or otherwise direct, pointed replies due to chaffing the long term locals with unnecessary new threads and questions on old, well-worn topics. One of the best ways to accomplish that is to use your internet browser rather than the forum search function, but including the phrase (without quotation marks): “site:rx8club.com”. This limits the search specifically to this website rather than the entire internet universe.

the reality is this vehicle is going on 18 years old and having ceased production going on 8 years ago; hence, this vehicle-specific forum too, and there’s not really much new under the sun. So coming to understand that pretty much everything you want or need to know is here at your fingertips with some effort is going to be a big help to yourself going forward. Some people want the quick answer and can’t be bothered with that though, but they’re usually the ones who run around making a mess and generally being the least informed.

Because going through the drudgery of searching and reading stuff that seems unnecessary at the time, will eventually build you up with a wealth of knowledge and understanding. Let’s be honest, there’s no quick & easy way to gaining knowledge and understanding. So rather than immediately hitting the “start a new thread” button every time a thought or question pops into your mind, it’d serve your interests better to spend some time seeing who’s been around for a while and seems to be knowledgable, then sending them a sincere message inquiring about it. This is way more likely to receive a welcoming response from the big dogs than running around loose everywhere acting like a puppy that hasn’t been house trained.

the other piece of advice for new people is this; just because you read something a certain way and somehow perceive it to have a particular intent, emotion, whatever ... is that it’s more likely to be a product of your own imagination and attitude, in addition to being completely wrong. Frankly, it’s a mistake I have to admit having made too many times and stupidly still do. The best thing you can do is just see the response as simply text without drama and carry forward that way. The worst thing you can do is let yourself become engulfed with emotion, rage, and so on and think you’re going to accomplish something useful expressing it back that way.

Because this isn’t an anti-social media site where you can surround yourself with like voices and then think a different voice can be shouted down by rounding up the mob. If you have an opinion to express, there’s a good possibility that someone may want to express back a completely opposite opinion in response to it, this being a two-way street in public and all. Because you really don’t want to be that person who goes on multiple nasty rants followed by some silly statement like “bye Felicia”, but then a few exchanges later posts a whining “I’m leaving here and never coming back”, do you?

final piece of advice is to pay attention to posting dates. Because there’s information on here all the way back to the very beginning. Sometimes what was considered knowledge and information way back when, might have been determined later to be complete nonsense (guilty as charged, learning is a process just like gaining knowledge and understanding). Or posting a reply to something more than several years old when that person might not even be around any more, and so on will help you not to look like you lack comprehension of time and space, or are completely unaware of what’s going on around you.

also not sure if the link in the other thread you started is your business or maybe you’re employed there, since there were only pictures and no context otherwise, but that might be considered a commercial business advertisement. Which there are forum rules related to those kind of posts as well. Nobody ever wants to be bothered with the rules; me too, even though it should always be the place we start first. Otherwise be careful what you ask for. The simple way is everyone for their self and anyone else be d-nmed. That kind of wild west, anything goes scenario can end up with you gunned down from behind unawares. Unfortunately or fortunately; everyone getting along civilly is complicated by rules and such to avoid that sort of thing.
