Since a rotary engine needs higher rpms to run clean and , running at low RPM under load will damage the engine ?
Is that a correct statement ?
My thoughts , I try and keep RPMS above 2000 in traffic in 25 35 45 MPH zones
I use a lower gear to keep RPM above 2000
What do you do ?
Your thoughts experience please !!
Sorry for the typo Guys

First, relax.
Driving a rotary is fun, and not a rigorous exercise in studying the tachometer. The more fun you have with the engine while driving a rotary, the healthier it is for the engine. So the easiest way to drive it properly is just to have fun with it and use the full rev range regularly, enjoying being able to pick and choose whatever gear and whatever RPM you want for the speed you are driving at.
A variety of RPM and throttle usage is more important than anything else really. All low rpm will carbon choke the engine, all high rpm will overheat the engine. Even all middle rpm doesn't open the secondary injectors like they need to be.
If you want to aim for an RPM to always stay above, pick 3,000rpm rather than 2,000rpm. Or, if you want to have even more fun, pick 4,000rpm! You still have another 5,000rpm of usable power band from there
It's one of the joys of the rotary. Don't approach it so clinically, just have fun with it, and you are probably doing the right thing.

I usually downshift when I near 2k rpms. 3k is around my target for cruising (with the exception of highway driving).
Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I think the secondary injectors begin working at 3800 rpm if that helps any. I believe the porting opens from 4 to 6 as well for manuals.

Of the 3 sets of injectors, the last set doesn't fire until above 7,000rpm I believe. I'm not sure the exact rpm/load point.
The intake valving is all staged as well...
http://rx8help.com/doc/RenesisTechnical.pdf
SSV opens at 3,750rpm
VFAD opens at 5,500
APV opens at 6,250
VIV opens at 7,250

I drove around town today. Mostly 34 -45 mph range stayed around the 3000 range ...had a blast !!!
I ordered new coils wires and plugs this morning , I can pick them up tomorrow , I am the cook here for thanksgiving and have 8 people coming , so it will be Friday before I can put them in . Cant wait ..going to clean throttle body while I have it apart !
I did rev her up to 8 k today in second !!!! Zoom Zoom
To see a old disabled woman grin form ear to ear !!! And her old man ...priceless

Higher voltage coils (like the BHR coils) will probably result in higher low-range torque (they did for me) which can make low-RPM driving more enjoyable, but I find myself cruising at low speed (less than 45) around 2500 or 3000 RPMs. It's always fun to take it up to near the redline, but you should always be safe because sometimes people around you freak out.
