Hi, got problem with my rx8. Try to connect ELM 327 to iphone x but failed. Anyone has got any idea or suggestion? Thank you.

 

Is it Bluetooth or WiFi?
If it's Bluetooth, Apple puts some annoying restrictions on what sorts of devices you can connect. There are only a handful of BT OBD adapters you can use. As far as I know, the PLX Kiwi3 and OBDLink MX+ will work and only with certain apps (DashCommand, OBD Fusion, and maybe a few more).

Probably WIFI. After plugging in the ELM OBD adapter, look in the available networks list in the Settings/WIFI iPhone screen page. You should find a strange name, for instance with me it shows CLKDEVICES. Select that network and also select the "renew lease" at the bottom of the page Hopefully there will not be a password required for the connection. If a password is required try all 0's or something simple like 12345678.

 

I keep a cheapo Android phone around to connect to my non-Wifi ELM327. After a lot of trial and error the Bluetooth pairing code on mine turned out to be 6789

 

Still need an android😅

 

My ELM specifically stated it would not work On iOS due to Bluetooth restrictions

 

Was told that ios only support expensive OBD

 

I use a cheap windows tablet, which is basically like connecting a laptop.
