Hi to all

Hi guys, A new user here.I just bought an auto 2007 RX-8 recently and noticed it won't rev past 7500 rpm. It goes up to 7.5k and gives the beep tone but doesn't go further. Just wanted to know if it is a normal thing for that car.

Welcome to the forum! The maximum horsepower is achieved at 7200rpm with the 4 port engine and revving it much past that can just be a waste. Mazda sets the redline at 7500rpm for the automatic RX-8. Fuel cut is somewhere around 7700rpm if I remember correctly. Though I remember some guys saying they have been able to rev to 7900 with their automatic RX-8.

The beep from the cluster on a manual transmission RX-8 is telling the driver that its time to shift. This goes way back to the 1st Gen RX-7, as buzzers were installed in them in 1979. The redline buzzer in my 85 RX-7 is a very 80's tone versus the RX-8's clean tone. The redline buzzer on your RX-8 is indicating the engine has reached its maximum power output and that its optimal to shift to the next gear. At any rate, it sounds like everything is working properly

It's a 2007 so a 6 port, but anyway, that's the correct redline for an automatic. Manuals go to 9000.
