I don't think so, would it cause the standard. Can rev for the first 10 seconds then limp mode kicks in and it revs slowely and not very high.

Update- So I'm takin it in tomorrow morning to have the PCM flashed, I tested the OMP, tested as working as resistance changed. Next step after this is probably going to have to be wiring troubleshooting.

Also, moved car today, ran totally fine for a little until I shut it off then tuned it back on and limp mode came back within 10 seconds. Also cannot communicate with the computer to pull codes

well this is a good indication, but if you did not get the sensor put back on exactly right then you might have 2 things causing limp mode at the same time.

So I'm at the dealer, they say I have most recent flash on the PCM, they also say I have a very long list of communication codes that only Mazda could read... Lol.

Besides the mechanic reprimanding me for resetting the car by pressing the brake pedal 20 times he said he will need to diagnose it further.

I might be a young guy, but I hate when people assume my age coincides with lack of knowledge.

Also claims o2 sensor could put it into limp mode, which sure I could understand, but feel it's as likely as me leaving here with a well running 8.

This really is leading me to believe I've got a couple faults in my main workin harness, but I'm not sure so I don't want to jump to conclusions just yet.

Requested a list of all codes but printer is aparently offline, will not pay the SOB til I get this list.

Ok so, turns out the wire on te omp stepper motor (port 4) is bad. So I'm gonna pull the motor, reset it, repai the wire, test the wire, pack it with dielectric grease, reset the car, and hopefully be on my way.

Mazda pulled a p1648 code after realizing all the communication errors were from pulling fuses an battery.

I can't find 1648 in the MIL list, but it looks like a OMP code to me. So once you fix the wire you're going to have to adjust the sensor. It will drive you crazy but it's not too bad.

Jack uo the pass side pull the tire, adjust ever so lightly.(I do one side at a time). Then start the car and check. If it limps. go adjuat it again. If it revs. put the tire on and drive it. It might start limping again. don't be suprised if you ahve to go back and re adjust it later.

Awesome, I repaired the wire a few days ago when I noticed it but I cut about an inch off and there was still corrosion so I kept cutting until the wire was solid silver no corrosion, its the port 4 black wire, and idea if i can test its continuity?

I will solder it and shrink wrap the soldier and pack the plug with dielectric after testing if i can find out how. only 6 wires on the harness. Its the harness to the stepper motor if i didnt already clarify that part.

Again, thanks SO much

the wire runs to the pcm, it's not too hard to pull the cover and plugs, tracing the wire might be a pain. I'm not sure how to to go about that.

search for wiring diagrms. then find the wires related to the omp and just ohm them out. Sounds much easier than it wil be to do in reality.

Well after cutting away at the wire I found it was corroded almost to the OMP. Cut out the wire, soldiered in a new one, and reset the MOP. Runs great, for now.

Drove around town and restarted the car multiple times, staying out of limp mode.

Thanks again for everything. I learned a LOT about this car through this.
If it happens again, I know where to start.
