help finding value of 2004 RX8
I need helping finding out a price to sell our 2004 Rx8.
I can give complete details to someone that can help me.
It's a one owner, original owner, body is in really good shape BUT the engine is NOT "FUNCTIONAL".cranks as runs until it gets hot then shuts down NOT TO CRANK AGAIN until it's cool.So the Mazda Tech we have used for years says that means it needs to be rebuilt or replaced. So as you see the usual "BLUE BOOK" type books or sites won't help me.
If anybody reading this would consider helping me or knows somebody that might help me I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance.i can give you my phone number or email address or however you would want to communicate. There are several other details I need to provide to make a fair assessment of it.

Manual or automatic?
If auto, about 500-1000. If manual, 1000-2000 if the interior and body are mint. It's a 17 year old car that needs a $4000+ engine, sooo...
Given that it's not running it's worth whatever someone will pay for it and people who understand rotaries and are willing to put it back on the road are kinda rare.

With a rx8, the engine is pretty much the value. As Loki said, engine replacement is 4K minimum, but if you pay someone it is 6k.
The exercise I am thinking about, is what is the maximum a 2004 rx8 could be valued at with a bad engine?
if the mileage is below 30k, assuming a perfect history and the best options, basically everything perfect but the engine, maybe 4K. This assumes the car could be sold for about 10k in good running order. In today’s market, that is not crazy at all. Actually a mint low mileage car with a new engine, you could see well above 10k.
but for most of us with cars in the 6-9.5/10 range... rx8 with a bad engine is worth about 2k, max.
