Need Help Finding a New 2004
Good Morning All,
This will be my first post, but based on how I've suddenly become smitten with this rotary beast, I'm sure it will be the first of many.
In reading through other posts on this forum I've read that there are a number of new 2004s sitting on dealer lots. I've also found out that Mazda has closed the books on 2004 so none of them will show up on the inventory locator. I really want to pull the trigger in the next few days and get something ordered -- Winning Blue with a Sport Package, if that's the right terminology.
If anybody can let me know which dealers they've seen new 2004s at, that would be great.
One more question -- for those of you who drive it year 'round that don't have heated seats, does it get warm enough in the winter? If so, how long before we have to worry about turning it off? Or, has the latest flash taken care of all that?
thanks
Hunter

I bought my '04 recently at Auffenberg St. Clair Auto Mall at their Mazda dealership here in O'Fallon, IL. I'm pretty sure that they have a couple of what you are looking for still. The salesman I had was named Jon Ballas. I've bought my last couple cars from him and he was great. Let me know and I can introduce the two of you if you would like. Plus, if you buy the car from him, I get a little kick back for helping him sell a car.
And trust me, you won't regret buying an 8.

Hunter, I'm in the Chicago area and am currently looking to get an 04 in the next couple of weeks. The best source I've found is autotrader.com. You can search dealer inventory for new 04s and I've found quite a few available but optioned out models are getting hard to find.
Just don't buy a black 8. I need all the options I can get.

j/k
Libertyville Autocity has a VR and LY 2004s with sport, appearance, rotary, 6 disc, spoiler that can be had new for about 22K if you drive a hard bargain and take advantage of all the rebates.
They also have some more fully loaded ones, but no blues.
Someone had a winning blue 6MT with a sports package with spoiler. We found it when doing a search for my car. Not sure if it is still out there though.
PM me if you want the name of a good guy to work with from Liberty Autocity.

How long have you had yours and did you get it for around 22K? If so, what'd you have to say or do to wrangle'm down to that?

It was posted earlier that there are a ton of 2004's at Milwaukee dealers. If you don't mind going across the border, you could probably get a pretty good deal. Go to Mazdausa.com to get the contact info for the dealers and just e-mail them on availability of 2004's. Good luck.

It's a black 6MT with Sport, Appearance and Spare Tire.
I couldn't haggle them too much since the black one was not on their lot and they had to get it from another dealer.

The autobarn in evanston/countryside has about 10 left.
www.theautobarn.com
I bought mine from the countryside location. Dealt with Kris, great transaction. Although I used S-plan and made them match a carmax quote, so I'm sure they were happy to do the deal and there was no negotiation going on.
try the website for the various dealers.

Also, you won't find a blue+sports since, had there been one available in Chicago, I would have bought it. Autobarn has a black (evanstan) touring and a black base (countryside). evanstan had a blue touring available when I bought my gray touring but they seem to have sold it.

Thanks for everybody's help!!!!!
I was able to find a new red 2004 GT for an EXTREMELY attractive price!
I just put money down on it and it's "off" the lot.
The only problem now is that I have to wait until NEXT Saturday to go up and get it! Oh well.
I think the next thing I'm going to do is down load the Zoom Zoom Zoom ring tone. I know. I'm sick.
Thank you everybody one and all for your help.

Yes, I will
Oh, I will :D But you're going to have to forgive me. I'm just a wee bit superstitious. So, once I actually have the car in hand, so to speak, I'll share all the dirty details.
