Greeting and Salutations from another Rotary n00b

Great forum folks!
Count me as a member of the 40+ crowd and a big shout out to the folks who contribute here. Your knowledge has impacted me very positively thus far. I've been lurking here since early June when I bought my black '06 Shinka and have picked up quite a bit of info in such a short time. Y'all rock.

So, I buy my RX8 and drive it 700+ miles home without incident, lovin' every minute of it. Last week she loses power while driving, check engine light starts flashing and I head for home and it happens again while trying to get her into the driveway. Total power loss and misfiring badly. Now I'm afraid to drive my little roadqueen so I jump on RXclub and spend 3 days absorbing as much as possible.

My ignorance had me thinking I'd be putting that aftermarket warranty to use.

I ordered an ignition kit [plugs/coils/wires] (couldn't afford BHR this time) and proceed to remove stock spark plugs. LO AND BEHOLD, the assclown that had installed the previous plugs used lead plugs in ALL FOUR plugports. The plugs in the trailing ports were completely blackened. Was pretty worried at first but she purrs like a kitten again and power totally restored. Looking forward to a compression test asap.

Thankfully, problem solved. Big $$$ saved. Thanks to all of your contributions.

Welcome to the club! I bought my car and picked up a missfire almost immediately as well. This forum helped me fix it completely and I never even had to post a reply. RIWWP's missfire thread is a lifesaver. Enjoy your new car

Glad you got that fixed sooner than later. Driving like that for an extended time could not have been good haha.
