Can you define "complete kit"?

There are only 3 parts to the RX-8's exhaust: Header, Midpipe/Cat, and Catback/muffler.

For a midpipe, BHR is my personal favorite, and most people end up going to it once they are tired of the failures, fitment problems, rasp, drone, and noise of other midpipes.
For a catback, Racing Beat and Borla are the two brands that tend to be the most popular.

Not typically.

Racing beat is the only one I can think of that sells all 3 parts. Speedsource used to, probably doesn't any more. Everyone else only sells 1 of the 3 or 2 of the 3.

The no name kits assume your application and offer you a full kit. Name brand companies realize that true "tuners" for lack of better words need multiple configurations for say a track set-up, street set-up, pure comfort set up, ect. So they sell there systems in pieces giving you the option of mid pipes, cats, resonators, cat delete whatever route you want to go. Essentially, you want to look for 3 pieces a header, a cat back exhaust, and a way of connecting the two via mid pipe with whatever you want on that mid pipe cat's, resonators straight tube. Or more common 2 parts, a catback exhaust and some sort of mid pipe.

I went here, bought the RB header the RB catalytic converter replacement pipe, and the agency power catback exhaust, and I’ve never been happier in my life, I've never turned my stereo on since I’ve installed it Bose system is now pointless, the sound is so infectious... Hope this helps, cheers.

oh ok that actually sounds better after a little research. my friend had suggested obx headers because they were cheaper. I hadn't planned on spending that much for a header though. the greddy cat back that I want to get is around $800

Why do you need a header?

The OBX header doesn't fit well, in addition to doing absolutely nothing for power.

Not that the RB header does anything for power either...

Make sure you do a lot of reading here before diving into mods

EDIT: And, I'm not sure what you mean by "downpipe". Do you mean midpipe?

so is this racing beat header really worth it? its a good $200 more than any other header ive looked at and I wanna be sure im spendin my money where I should be. I like to do things the right way but if I can just buy a K O speed or obx header for 200 less and it doesn't make a difference I kinda wanna do that

What exactly are you trying to gain? If you're dead-set on a replacement header, a somewhat connected individual told me you should keep your eye on BHR's website.

If you are looking for performance, no, the racing beat header isn't worth it. Neither is the OBX header. NO header that is currently available is worth the cost and trouble.

If you are after something else, like bling, another line in your signature, a place to spent money, something to do under your car, etc... then sure, it's worth it.

I noticed better throttle response with the RB header, and a more defined engine noise which is nice on the track keep my eyes on the road and not the tachometer.

And I wouldn’t agree that NO header is available it's just going to cost you a pretty penny.

I'd still say that keeps my statement true. $1,200 + the cost and trouble of shipping from Japan = not worth it in my books

Greddy racing pulley kit

so ive been looking at this greddy racing pulley kit and I was wondering if anyone else had done that. I just wanna know if its worth it or not. I was hoping for increased performance but if not, id rather not spend $300 on something I don't need

I'm not trying to be an ***, but maybe you should educate yourself more on the subject instead of purchasing, just because you can. You're going down a dark road already.

Header is connected to the engine
Mid-pipe (not down-pipe) connects the header to the cat-back
Cat-back is the mufflers and exhaust/ tail pipes

{Catalytic converter is the emissions "canister" mounted somewhere between the header and the cat-back, depending on vehicle and set-up}

Considering the OBX header has fitment problems, I'd say that chances are none of the midpipes out there will fit well to it.

I'll be completely honest about my opinion here:
I think you have this notion fixed in your head about the impact the mods will have and you aren't willing to listen to reason, and as a result you are spending money that is actually completely wasted. You may fool yourself into thinking you have gotten an improvement out of what you bought, but you won't fool us.

They are pointless. But then, you already bought a cheap header you don't need, why not spend another $300 on pointless mods?

I'm really trying not to flame, I just can't see another way of answering the question.

Maybe I'm just letting my exhaustion get to me
