looking to buy a new fuel pump. Can you use an a.e.m performance pump in a 04 6spd with a intake , mid pipe cat delete and underdrive pulleys?

If you are basically stock......you would be much better off with a stock fuel pump

I got mine, as a full assembly, at Advance Auto in GA. Not the one in Oviedo....

It has been fine, on the track and off.

If anything, upgrade to a S2 Denso fuel pump.

Sell your useless underdrive pulleys and put the money towards the S2 pump+housing maybe?

I would recommend the DW200 pump, which is a direct replacement for the stock pump, but has better longevity and flow in a Series 1 RX8. BHR carries them. A better pump than stock.

That is the full fuel pump assembly. If you want to do a complete assembly, just order a Series II pump assembly and do the required modifications to fit a Series I.

You cheapest option would be an aftermarket drop in for your current Series I assembly. The Walboro 255 would work, for example.

I just dropped a DW200 in my 04 with about the same mods you have. Got it from BHR the hardest part was getting the plastic ring off had to fab my own tool for the job. I've put about 3k miles on it now and it works grate and the pump was only about $140.

Amazon has the tool for about $16. Several manufacturers make this tool. Not hard to find. My DW200 from BHR runs great. The Series II pump will require more modification but is certainly another good option as the Series II pump seems to be a vast improvement over the oem Series 1 pump.

Really, if it were me, Rock Auto has several complete assemblies for under $170. I have the AirTex one (um, try to find one on a Sunday during a track weekend 300 miles from home). It has been fine. I have tons of track time and DD time on it (like 2 + years). I kept the OEM assembly as well. It is in a box, where the AirTex can see it. If I ever need a replacement, will pick up one of the improved ones, but no need as of now. I can still go around turn 5 with 1/4 tank of gas.
