Finally, I found one :)
Hello and welcome and all that
After an extensive search and missing a couple good deals, I picked up a 2006 Shinka - I think! I will have to check it out but I'm pretty sure it's a Shinka, and I got a good deal and it drives well. I'm waiting for the dealer to straighten out a couple things but overall I think it should be a fun second car!
I had an RX-7 for many years and when I sold it, there was like this big hole in my heart, and I've missed that car ever since. Kinda like I broke up with somebody and shouldn't have
Anyway, take a look at the photos, let me know what you think. Can it be identified as a Shinka or not from the pictures? It's a 2006 with 42k miles.
Yes I know there's a 'how to identify a Shinka' thread, but I need to read it again and just wanted to say hi and all that. Happy to be in the rotary world again!

Er... uh... I can't tell if it's a Shinka from the available information??? It does say so on the pillar, but that's just a sticker, anybody could buy, right? I don't care that much, because as I said it drives nice and everything is straight with it... but it would be nice to know. Does anybody have the list of VINs for 2006 Shinka???

Well, I thought Shinkas were only 2005 and 2006. For 2005, they were all Black Cherry Mica with a Parchment interior. For 2006, they could be in any number of colors, including Whitewater Pearl (or Crystal White Pearl, I forget the switch year for that name). They had white/gray or tan interiors, and the semi-chromed Shinka wheels that you have.
So if your vin is truely 2007, then it isn't a true Shinka, someone just installed the Shinka interior, wheels, and stickers and sold it as a Shinka. If you actually have a 2006, then yes, it seems to be a Shinka.

Yeah, just looked at the original dealer spec deck for the 2007, and the Shinka isn't listed, just Sport, Touring, and Grand Touring.

LOL, ok... it isn't listed as Shinka but it is a 2006. It had the sticker so I wasn't sure. It is faster than the other three I test drove and the handling was solid - really nice, really reminds me of the RX-7. Thanks for the clarification!

Well I picked up the car tonight and drove around for about an hour, on the highways, in town, all around. Everything is working great, the car sounds great, it's a ton of fun to drive! Only thing odd is the radio display is super dim, but will brighten up if I tap on the dash. So, gonna check all the connections back there. The previous owner clearly had some stereo upgrades, so I bet they loosened a connection removing it. There was a slight shimmy in the rear on some hard launches but I'm pretty sure that's me.
Anyway, I live in Phoenix - anyone know a proper mechanic here? You know... just in case.
