Engine/Transmission Compatability

New guy here,

I'm wondering what the difference is between a 4 port and 6 port transmissions. I've got a 4 port engine and a 6 port transmission and I'm wondering if they're compatible at all and how much work it would be to pair them up. Would it be worth it to try and match them up or would it be better to just get matching engine/transmission?

Yes you can bolt them together. I just wouldn't use a 4 port for anything if you can avoid it, but that's more dictated by what engine originally came with the car, because ECU, fuel and harness connections are different.

I remember hearing from someone a while back that there was noise about the 4-ports being preferred by the turbo crowd or something... Just throwing that out as a sort of vicarious dissenting opinion.
