elecrical problem

Hi everyone
Can someone help me out with this.ill start from the beggining, over the last few months on occasions i would get into my car in the morning and everything had been reset, stereo traction everything like the battery has been disconnected then reconnected, i havnt thought nothing of it untill today, i pulled over to go tho the shop when the car jst cut out completely i had no electrics and caused the car to cut out, i tried turning ignition on and off but it was completely dead i sat for 30 second opened my door then all electrics just came back on, i turned the ignition on and started car as normal within 10 seconds the power steering went heavy and electrics completely cut out again then car stalled, i checked the battery and terminals were fine, got back in the car and it was fine again. Does anyone have any idea? Really frustrating also if i start it from cold and it cuts out ive had it, cos it will flood. Thanks

Your battery terminals are not fine.

Disconnect both (negative first), clean the posts and the clamps completely. Reconnect them (positive first) and make sure they are seated securely before you tighten them down. Corrosion often forms between the post and the clamp, breaking the connection and erroding the post away so that even when cleaned the clamp can't maintain a solid connection in exactly the same orientation. Some people end up tightening the bolt without realizing that it isn't actualy gripping the post tightly, the nut/bolt are just bottoming out.

Hi
I just checked the terminals properly and one was loose and was a bit corroded so ive cleaned them up and put them on the posts properly hopefully that is the problem so thanks for that cos you are probably right i just thought it was touching the post so it should be fine. Nice one

If you smear them with gobs of Vaseline or grease it will keep them from corroding
