DTC removal, MazdaEdit vs. VersaTuner help

Does anyone who uses either of the softwares know if when a DTC code is deleted so it doesn’t turn in the check engine light if it will disable ecu procedures for that code?

Ex: I have a communication error with TCM code because I did a manual transmission swap on my rx8, if I get mazdaedit or Versatuner they both allow me to delete DTCs however a missing tcm causes limp mode and I was wondering if deleting the DTC would also prevent limp mode from turning back on because of this specific code?

or another example people might have experience with is a missing rear O2 sensor which also causes limp mode I believe but would deleting the DTC for the O2 sensor fix limp mode in this situation?

and please no asking asking or criticizing about the swap Ik what I did and I wanted to do it for fun and to learn how to do new things and instead of replacing pcm with another ecu I would prefer to use Mazdaedit or Versatuner because then I can also use those softwares for other things after the fact

The software apps can "mask" codes of conditions which are present, but do not correct the actual condition. The actual condition m/b corrected in order to resolve limp mode.

Wait so since it masks the code wouldn’t the ecu see the missing tcm as functioning normally and not turn on limp mode?

ik you said otherwise but it’s just hard to grasp why that wouldn’t work for me because I don’t need the tcm to work I just need the ecu to think the tcm is still there and is fine

A small child covers his eyes, and believes what he can no longer see is no longer there. Alas we know he's merely *masked* his view of reality, not deleted it.
