SC DSC Light = no acceleration

Hi everyone. New member as of today but I've been perusing the forums for quite a while. I've got an issue that nothing in my searches has produced any results.

I've got a 2008 RX8 that I bought about 8 months ago. It does something strange. Every once in a while, if the car is hot (been driving, stop for an errand...) and I start it up, the DSC light turns on at my dash. When this happens I won't be able to accelerate past 3000rmp. So far, the only way I've found to fix this is to do an "ECU Accelerator Pedal Reset Procedure." The procedure is finicky with timing but will eventually work.

None of my research has turned up anything like this. Has anyone heard of this? Any ideas of where to start looking for the bug that is causing this?

Any suggestions appreciated.

I'm not familiar with the "ECU Accelerator Pedal Reset Procedure". Searching google for it only turns up spam sites.

Can you describe it?

Have you had ECU codes read (before you wipe it)?
It sounds like limp mode, which is most often causes by a problem with the OMP circuit or with the coolant temperature sensor or circuit. Neither of those trip DSC lights.

Get it scanned, see what it can tell you. Ideally at Mazda since this car has some manufacturer-specific codes that regular readers may not read.

First just check your battery terminals. If the ground is loose and moves while driving this could happen. Simplest thing I can think of to look for first.

So far, I've only checked it with the code reader I have. Getting Mazda to check for codes that I can't see isn't a bad idea. Thanks, I'll check it out.
