dies at idle. classic hot start issue.

new member, but long time researcher on this forum, i usually just read and click around on here. this is my 3rd rx8. ive delt with every problem possible with the rx8s it seems like. this current rx8 has 46,000 miles. it is hard to start cold and wont start hot. it died at idle pulling into my drive way today. since Ive replaced plugs, wires, packs, starter. it would lead to believe its a low compression issue. which is what i think is happening. i live to far away from a mazda dealership to get it compression tested. both of my previous rx8s have had a compression issue at some point. so ive dealt withthr syptoms of bad compression, im pretty familiar with the syptoms. my car has all the syptoms of bad compression EXCEPT rough idle and power loss, when my old rx8s compression got bad, i always had a loss of power and terrible idle. the thing drives and pulls like a champ. and idles fine except when ive drive it more than 40 minutes and come to a stop. it was driving fine one day, i drove it to huntsville(2 hour 40 min drive round trip) came out the next morning to go to work. started with slight hesitation, didnt think to much about it forreal and stopped by the store for some food to take to work with me, came out and it wouldnt start for almost 40 minutes to an hour. it was just so sudden. like over night sudden... on my previous rx8s the compression issues grew over time, not over night. ive been reading, thinking and searching for 2 months every single day about this issue. i need outside opinions. is there soemthing im not thinking of? is there a problem that mimics the symptoms im having?

So, why haven't you gotten a compression test?

Wait, I think I know...
Subconsciously you're hoping that it's something else but you don't want to get the test done because it might say what you know is most likely to be true.

Get the damned test done.

I'll bet you it doesn't pull as hard as it should. Your old ones could have been in sorry shape as well.

Don't just accept that it's a compression issue. Get it tested.

Could also be a vacuum leak or dirty MAF. Get some OBD data st idle: MAF air flow, STFT, AFR, commanded AFR.

Could also be compression, obviously. Sounds like OBD data should be easier to reach than a Mazda dealer.
