Coolant in the floor on passenger side

Coolant in the floor on passenger side

HI I found coolant in the floor in the passenger side my car didn't over heated but I didn't drive it much I took it to the mechanic and he told me without chequing it was the heating core he said could it replace it. It it be 800$ or I could it bypass it witch it. Be 150$ since I'm in Florida I don't really need the heat so I said yes please help if anyone knows more about this ?

Heater core is leaking. It's a bitch to replace. By passing it is easy enough but I would not recommend it.

are you sure its coolant? years ago my pass. floor was damp, theres a rubber vent on the firewall that was stuck and had something to do with the ac iirc.

I would check that too.....it is really common when the A/C drain plugs up for lots of water on the floor.

It was coolant so my mechanic bypass it but since I live in Florida i don't need the heat is it going tombs ok ? Or any recomendacions ?

It is a PITA but you should replace the heater core. It does get cold in FL and you'll need it to defrost the car when your A/C goes out.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm guessing there's gonna be some issues later too with cooling, just due to the way heater cores work? Or in the event he needs to dump heat for some reason?

Well I know I should replace the core but I don't really have the money right now but I need to drive the car asp I have the money I will. But for this time the car runs good I really take care of it the heated core it's by pass but whenever I have the money I will replace it, also the power staring sing it's on, it use to turn off now it's on all the time anyone knows about this? the weel it's little hard but it drives how can I fix this?

I understand - but if you have inefficient AC and need the heat to keep the windscreen from fogging up, you'll not have that ability. Heat = safety
