For about 2 weeks I've been having some power loss in the top end of my rev range, between 5000 and 9000 rpm. today on the highway I got a sudden loss of power and a blinking CEL. I pulled the codes immediately on my CarPC and I have a P0302 Cylinder 2 Misfire and a P0661 Intake Manifold Tuning Valve Control Circuit Low Bank 1.

I expected to see the Misfire code but I didn't expect to see the second, which after search around appears to be the SSV solenoid.

My question, can the SSV solenoid cause a misfire

 

The SSV could definitely explain the loss of power at the top end.

As for the misfire, are your ignition components good? Is your fuel pump fine?
