The Clutch. How should it feel?

Hi all,

I'm new to this forum, so before asking anything I will introduce myself shortly:
My name is EasyDeuce and live in the Netherlands. Two months ago I bought my first RX8. It's an 06 192hp GT with 5 speed manual. It is currently running on its second engine, which has about 18.000 miles on it.
The car itself has about 80.000 miles on it, but is still in pretty good condition. So far I am really enjoying driving the car as my daily.

There is, however, a reason for me to join you guys on this forum. I am slightly worried about the clutch in my car. The clutch grabs very quickly. If I press the pedal all the way in it disengages, but as soon as I lift my foot only the slightest amount it starts to grab. It does slip at first, but if I lift my foot a bit further it really starts to grab. I'm aware that I'm in a sports car and that it will feel a bit different from 'regular ' cars, but mine acts like an on-off switch and I'm not sure that is the way it should feel. I've heard a lot people say that the RX8 it's clutch is very user friendly, hence the doubts about my own clutch.

I've also noticed that the engine's RPM is limited to 3000 RPM when the engine is cold. Is this a stock feature?

I hope you guys can provide me with some answers.

Thanks in advance!

The clutch pedal may need to be adjusted to put the friction point higher in its travel. https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-do-...stment-245742/

The only stock RPM limit is limp mode, so if you're hitting that when cold, your car believes something is wrong. This is usually caused by a failure in the Metering Oil Pump (mechanical or electronic). If this is really the case, I don't recommend driving. You should have a check engine light and a code scan will provide more detail, if this is the case. If that's not the case, please share a video of what's happening.
